Salaam and good evening everyone
One thing that we see often in emergency centers throughout the world are children who were found drowning and rushed in for care. This is something that should not be happening this regularly because it is preventable with some simple tips.
I saw this cool little boy in the wards recently, he was admitted after a near drowning experience. He was found in a pool face down and luckily his dad was quick, jumped in and rescued him, but the main thing that saved him was that luckily there was an off- duty nurse who rushed to him and performed CPR which saved his life. They brought him in to the emergency unit but forgot a main step to caring for a drowned victim, to keep him dry and warm. They did so well but forgot to remove the wet clothes and keep him warm, what we do not realise is that children lose body heat much quicker than adults and that can cause added issues.
I attended a big meeting once where they discussed how many children drowned and where they were found. I found it surprising that most kids drown in places other than the ocean like pools, dams or rivers. This is tragic because it usually means that they were not supervised well. We have to realise that caring for children is a job of constant vigilance, if kids are out playing or walking near water we should keep a close watch. A good idea is when there are group of adults and children having a good time, at least one should be designated to actually watching the children around water like a lifeguard. There are also many swimming schools for children and adults (yes adults need to learn how to swim efficiently too), this can be a fun activity to do as a family that will also be teaching them a vital skill early on that can potentially save their lives. How are you going to save someone from drowning if you can’t swim?
CPR training is also an amazing skill for all parents or guardians to learn, you can easily google CPR training centers near your area and when you pass the course you gain vital knowledge, you will have challenged yourself, you can put it on your CV (everyone wants to hire someone who is useful in an emergency) and you can just go about life with confidence in your new abilities. It is a must for all new parents to do.
If you are going to be near water with your kid and you do not want them to swim because maybe you are having a picnic or something then keep them close, make sure the water area has barriers up like gates.
You must be fully aware of the dangers of drowning, anyone that has seen someone drown will tell you the same thing. It happens so fast, there is no warning, there is no sound and kids are so difficult to watch all the time.
Overall, constant supervision is essential whenever children are near water, regardless of their age, swimming ability, or familiarity with the water environment. By being vigilant, attentive, and proactive, adults can help keep children safe and prevent drowning incidents from happening.

Always remember how fortunate you are and be grateful for the little positive things in your life. The children in Palestine, Sudan and places even closer to home are going through some devastating trauma and will only wish for to play in a safe home. If you are by the means to donate to help then follow the link below, if not that’s fine too but at least make a prayer for those parents and children suffering.
